Believe it or not, my passion for design and engineering came from my childhood memories of IKEA merchandise—well thought-out, uniquely designed, and inexpensively mass-made furniture and bric-a-brac that managed to make its way into virtually every home on the planet.

Fast forward about 20 years.  Using the ideas that were brewing all this time, I graduated from Syracuse University with a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, made design and data visualization my hobbies, and am currently teaching at my undergraduate alma mater, Norwich University—a senior military college in the beautiful state of Vermont.  Naturally, I still like IKEA furniture.

My research areas of interest are image processing and computer vision, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and infrastructure security.
